Butterball Farms Capabilities

From ideation to formulation and commercialization, we’re your one-stop partner, working with you through every step to create, produce, package, and ship your custom butter or flavored ingredient solutions.

The capabilities, and
what each one is for

Most projects move left to right across these. You don’t have to. If you already have a signed-off recipe, skip the first three and go straight to commercialization.

Develop the flavor

You have an idea, or a problem, and no formula yet

Research, development & innovation

Bench formulation and sensory rounds with the R&D group. You bring the dish and the flavor target, the team brings the food science. This is where a brief turns into something you can taste.

Custom flavor development

For when what you need isn’t butter. Sauces, glazes, fillings, marinades and aiolis, formulated by a U.S. based flavor team and built to hold up in your application.

What we make

Most of our work is custom. And every flavor we make can be pre-portioned into dollops, tubs, medallions, chef rolls, and custom shapes. Here’s what we build most often, but if your menu calls for something else, the answer is usually yes.

Flavored compound butter served on fresh bread Flavored & Compound Butter
Mashed potatoes with gravy beside roasted vegetables Specialty Sauces & Gravies
Chef spreading aioli onto a toasted bun Spreads, Aioli’s, & Dips
Glazed grilled chicken breasts plated with herbs Marinades & Glazes
Butter tallow spread across a slice of toast with a knife Butter Tallow
Table setting with shaped butter portions in a bread basket Butter Shapes & Logos

Formats and Packaging

Most of what leaves the plant is portioned before it ships, which is the whole point. It takes the prep hour out of your kitchen and puts it on our line.

What we don’t run

No glass jars, no bottles. If your pack calls for either, the team will say so on the first call rather than three weeks into formulation.

Pre-portioned

  • Shaped butter portions, embossed or plain.
  • Dollops, medallions, and chef rolls.
  • PC cups and individually wrapped portions.
  • Flash frozen so a server pulls one without it tearing.

Bulk

  • Tubs and pails for back of house.
  • Drums for manufacturing lines.
  • Labelled to your spec for private label runs.

Certifications and food safety

The answers buyers ask for before an RFP.
  • BRCGS Food Safety Certificated badge
  • Certified Kosher seal with a leaf and K symbol
  • Halal Certification Services seal
  • CE Quality Certificate certification mark

How it works

From first idea to first shipment, here’s the four-step process:
1

Ideation

Complete a signed application so we can get your custom logo process underway.
2

Formulation

Bench work, then a sample in your kitchen. Sensory rounds until it’s right.
3

Scale-up

The bench formula gets proven at production volume and packed in your format.
4

Commercial run

First production, then ongoing supply through your distributor or direct.
